SEND & Additional Needs Courses

Acorn Training works in collaboration with Sue Swann, an expert and experienced SEND consultant to deliver a wide range of specialised SEND courses, in addition to our popular two-day SEND Lead Practitioner (SENCo) course.

We also work in collaboration with Claire Findlay & Davinder Phull to provide other engaging training courses relating to some of the additional learning needs of children. 

All our courses are suitable for Early Years settings, schools, and other people/organisations working with children from the early years to primary years.  

'Encouraging Positive Behaviour'

Summary:

Exploring the reasons for challenging behaviour and look at developing a positive, problem solving strategies for assessing behaviour.Exploring strategies to help manage the unwanted behaviour.

Aims & Objectives:

  • To explore reasons for challenging behaviour.
  • To develop positive, problem solving strategies for assessing behaviour.
  • To explore strategies to help manage / change behaviour

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of why a child’s behaviour is challenging
  • Learn how to use the iceberg method to analyse why a particular behaviour is occurring.
  • Be able to us ABC charts to monitor behaviours
  • Know how to complete a risk reduction plan/positive behaviour plan
  • Have some strategies to help manage / change children’s behaviour.
  • Have top 10 tips for managing behaviour.
