We are so delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for two UK Social Enterprise Awards: ‘Education, Training & Jobs Social Enterprise of the Year’ and ‘Consumer Facing Social Enterprise of the Year’, which recognise us as one of UK’s most effective social enterprises!

Social enterprises are businesses that serve a social and/or environmental purpose and there are an estimated 100,000 social enterprises in the UK that are set up to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing society!

At Acorn, we work towards our vision of a more caring and connected society by operating a cross-subsidy model. This approach enables an increasing number of children from areas of social deprivation to access the same high-quality childcare and early years education as other children. Simultaneously, our social impact captures the growth of family partnerships, community embeddedness, and continuous professional development of the early years’ workforce. All of these elements combined, makes us one of only a few large childcare providers in the UK which operates in this ethical and sustainable way.

We cannot wait to join other shortlisted organisations and guests at the awards ceremony held at London’s iconic Roundhouse on Thursday 8 December, to celebrate all of the amazing work that social enterprises do.

Commenting on the Awards, our Chief Executive Zoe Raven said:

“I am thrilled that we have been shortlisted for the UK Social Enterprise Awards, as these showcase and recognise the impact and excellent work that social enterprises do across the UK. I looking forward to celebrating with the other finalists in December!”
