Course Overview

This Laser accredited, 3 credit, Level 1 award will provide learners with an introduction to the forest school ethos and will develop some of the skills and knowledge required to enhance learning in the outdoors. The qualification aims to encourage personal growth and engagement in learning and provide a starting point for further professional development. This introductory two-day training programme is run outdoors and is a mixture of theoretical and practical tasks.

 

Aims & Objectives

• You will develop an understanding of the principles and ethos of Forest School, and understand the structure of a forest school session
• You will develop your understanding of the woodland environment, including identification of species, uses of different natural resources, and understanding the impact of educational activities on the environment
• You will gain some educational activity ideas and how these activities can be linked to the EYFS or National Curriculum

Teachers and Early Years Practitioners that would like to develop their understanding of the forest school ethos and how it can be used to enhance outdoor learning provisions in their settings.

 

About the Trainers

Donna and Gemma have over 9 years’ experience of delivering forest school sessions and programmes to nurseries, schools and holiday clubs. They are now in to their third year of delivering forest school training courses and enjoy sharing their passion by helping others develop as Forest School Leaders. Both have L3 Forest School qualifications, L4/L6 Childcare qualifications, and L4 PTLLS Awards (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector).

This quote includes delivery of two training days, ongoing remote support, marking time, quality assurance processes and accreditation/certificate fees, but does not include travel to your setting (which is charged at 45p per mile).
